About Our Hospital
Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley is a 36-bed long-term acute care hospital (LTAC) that is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania and accredited by The Joint Commission. We are certified by Medicare as an acute care provider.
We are unique in that we are a hospital within a hospital, conveniently located inside Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, a 415-bed medical-surgical acute care hospital. Because of Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley’s unique location, our patients have access to emergent and critical intensive care services, as well as technically advanced diagnostic services without having to be transferred to an off-site facility.
Kindred Hospital is located on the 7th floor of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. We provide acute care services 24 hours a day, seven days per week to the medically complex patient that required an extended stay in a hospital. There is a designated nursing care team, round-the-clock respiratory therapy, pharmacy and rehabilitation department to care for our patients who require a higher intensity of service.
Kindred Hospital Wyoming Valley specializes in the care of pulmonary patients, especially those requiring ventilator weaning. Patients are also admitted for complex wound management, infectious disease management, dialysis, and post-surgical recovery. Through an aggressive interdisciplinary approach, the clinical team monitors the patient progress and treatment plan.
